平常/一般

平常often occurring in colloquial speech ,has two related meaning .When used as an adverbial, it suggests something usual ,routine ,or something often seen, or habitual. It is usually with reference to

time and it often comes with 总afterwards in a declarative sentence or in a sentence with an affirmative tone.

“平常”常用于口语，有两个相关联的意思。当作状语时，它表示日常的、司空见惯的、很平常的或习惯性的事物。一般都与时间有关，而且在陈述句或带肯定意义的句子中，“平常”之后常常带“总”·我们平常总喜欢去图书馆看报和看杂志。wǒ men píng cháng zǒng xǐ huan qù tú shū guǎn kàn bào hé kàn zá zhì 。(We usually like to go to the library to read newspapers and magazines,) ·这件外衣我爸爸平常很少穿。zhè jiàn wài yī wǒ bà ba píng cháng hěn shǎo chuān 。(My father seldom wears this jacket on ordinary occasions.) When used as an attributive or an adjectival predicate, 平常means ordinary or common in the sense that something is normal ,as ordinary as all the others,with nothing in particular or special: 当“平常”作为定语或形容词谓语时，则其意思为普通的、不特殊的，就像其他东西一样普普通通，无特殊、特别之处。·这是个很平常的电视机，怎么那么贵? zhè shì gè hěn píng cháng de diàn shì jī ，zěn me nà me guì? (This is a quite ordinary TV set .How come it is so expensive?) ·这种现象很平常。zhè zhǒng xiàn xiàng hěn píng cháng 。 (This sort of thing is quite a common occurrence.) 一般，on the other hand ,stresses what is in general or on an average, and nothing specific or special .When used as an adjectival predicate or a verbal complement. 一般can sometimes imply a pejorative connotation, indicating that someone or something is not good enough. “一般”则着重于表示跟其他事物一样普通、平常、无特别或特殊之处。当用于形容词谓语或动词补语时“一般”有时可带贬义，表示某人或某事物并不很好。·一般的医院都有这种设备。 yī bān de yī yuàn dōu yǒu zhè zhǒng shè bèi 。(Ordinary hospital are all equipped with such facilities.) ·这么贵的衣服，一般人买不起。zhè me guì de yī fu ，yī bān rén mǎi bù qǐ 。(Ordinary people could not afford to buy such expensive clothes.)

想/觉得

想is more popular and is mostly used to mean the process of merely thinking without forming a judgment ,e.g.请你再想一想(qǐng nǐ zài xiǎng yī xiǎng)(Please think it over),想办法(xiǎng bàn fǎ)(to think of a way)etc. It is sometimes used to show a guess or an inference. e.g. 我想她今天不会来(wǒ xiǎng tā jīn tiān bù huì lái)(I don’t think she will come today).Besides 想can also be used to mean “to wish”, ”to want” or “to plan”, as in 我想去中国一次( wǒ xiǎng qù zhōng guó yī cì)(I plan to go to China for once)and 他们想明天来(tā men xiǎng míng tiān lái)(They want to come tomorrow) “想“用得比较多，大多用来表示思想的过程，不作判断，如”请你再想一想” ，“想办法”等。有时也用来表示推测，比如“我想她今天不会来”。另外，“想”也可用来表示“希望”，“要”或“打算”的意思，比如“我想去中国一次”及“他们想明天来” · 我们应该好好想一想怎样面对目前的金融危机。wǒ men yīng gāi hǎo hǎo xiǎng yī xiǎng zěn yàng miàn duì mù qián de jīn róng wēi jī. (We should well consider how to face the current financial crisis.) ·她想大学毕业以后就去上法学院。 tā xiǎng dà xué bì yè yǐ hòu jiù qù shàng fǎ xué yuàn. (She wants to go to a law school right after her graduation from college.) 觉得，on the other hand, refers to ideas and opinion derived from one’s sense organs or from one’s feelings. with less certainty, and it is quite casual in tone, As a transitive verb, 觉得has to take either verbal phrases, adjectives or clauses, etc. as its objects, but mot nouns or noun phrases directly.

“觉得”指的是由感觉器官得出的或凭感觉得来的看法和意见，语气随便，不太肯定。作为及物动词，‘觉得“要以动词词组、形容词或从句等作为其宾语，但不能直接用名词或名词词组作为宾语。

·我觉得我们应该去医院看看小张。 wǒ jué de wǒ men yīng gāi qù yī yuàn kàn kàn xiǎo zhāng. (I feel that we should go to the hospital to take a look at Xiao Zhang) ·你穿这条裙子，我觉得很漂亮。 nǐ chuān zhè tiáo qún zǐ, wǒ jué de hěn piào lianɡ. (I think you look very pretty in this skirt.)
