“应该”和“会”
1、“应该”有两个意思。一个是在事实上或者情理上需要。“会”没哟这种意思。
“应该”has two meanings. Firstly, it describes the practical or emotional demand.
“会”has no such meaning.
·他不知道自己应该去哪里。
tā bù zhī dao zì jǐ yīng gāi qù nǎ li 。
·我们都应该多帮助他。
wǒ men dōu yīng gāi duō bāng zhù tā 。
2、“应该”的另外一个意思，是表示估计和猜测。“会”也可以表示估计和猜测。
The second meaning of “应该”is to express estimation and guess. “会”can also express estimation and guess.
·按照我们约好的时间，他应该到了呀。
àn zhào wǒ men yuē hǎo de shí jiān ，tā yīng gāi dào le ya 。
·他会来的。
tā huì lái de
“会”常表示对以后的猜测，“应该”一般表示对现在的情况的估计和猜测。“会”常和“的”一起用，“应该”有时和“了”一起用。
“会”is often used to describe the anticipation of the future ,and “应该”focuses on the current situation .“会”often matches with the word
“的”,but“应该”often works together
with“了”.For example:
·快穿上毛衣，你会感冒的。(你以后可能感冒)
kuài chuān shàng máo yī ，nǐ huì gǎn mào de 。(nǐ yǐ hòu kě néng gǎn mào )
Put on your sweater ,otherwise you might catch a cold .(estimation to the future situation)
·他发烧咳嗽，应该是感冒了。(他现在可能感冒了)
tā fā shāo ké sou ，yīng gāi shì gǎn mào le 。(tā xiàn zài kě néng gǎn mào le )
He has a cough and a fever .He might have caught a cold .(estimation to the current situation)
总算/终于
总算and终于can be regarded as “at long last”, ”finally” or “in the end” in English ,but they have different connotations, and hence different
usage.
虽然“总算”和“终于”都可以英译为“at long last”, ”finally” or “in the end”，但其含义不同，所以使用起来也不仅相同。
总算indicates that certain wishes have finally been fulfilled after a long period of time, or after consistent efforts have been exerted终于,on
the other hand, stresses what occurs or what finally has been achieved after many changes or amidst some eager waiting. Since both
are generally used as adverbials modifying verbs and adjectives, they are often interchangeable,depending upon the speaker’s
presuppositions. If the speaker stresses the difficulties or the ups and downs involved in accomplishing something ,he can generally
use 终于;if, on the other hand ,he wants to express the long duration of time involved in expecting something to occur ,he can then use 总
算.
Another difference between the two is that while 总算always indicates something desirable to have occurred or achieved ,终于can be
used to indicate either desirable or undesirable circumstances. In terms of use ,总算is often used in colloquial speech, whereas 终于
can be in both colloquial speech and in written languages.
“总算”表示经过很长一段时间或经过执着的努力之后，某种愿望最终实现，而“终于”则侧重于表示，经过种种变化，经过热切等待和期盼而出现的情况或实现的事情。因为两者一般都用作状语，修饰动词和形容词，所以常常可通用，视说话者的假设而定。假如说话者要强调实现某事所经历的种种困难或艰难曲折，他一般会用“终于”另一方面，要是他想表示期望某事发生所要等待的一段很长的时间，那他就可用“总算”。两者另一个不同之处在于，“总算”表示的总是希望、愿意发生的或取得的事，而“终于”则可用来表示希望发生的事情或情形，也可表示不愿发生的事情或情形。用法上，“总算”常用于口语，而“终于”则通用于口语和书面语。
