The term came originally from northern China where cabbage is extensively grown and harvested , and refers to something extraordinarily cheap. Cabbage has gained this reputation mainly because it’s usually pretty easy to grow and yields a large harvest .And as China is well-known for low labour costs-especially in the countryside-cabbage remains an incredibly cheap foodstuff compared to other vegetables .The term is now being used frequently in promotions and special deals .
